The Great Basin Institute is hiring a Project Records Management CRS Associate to work cooperatively with Chaco Culture National Historical Park (CHCU) and Aztec Ruins National Monument (AZRU) staff to support the parks’ records management activities. The primary role of the position is to coordinate the effort to build an integrated, functional and sustainable records management program for the two administratively combined parks, under supervision of the parks’ Administrative Officer, and working closely with the IT Specialist, Archivist, and established parks’ records management committee. The associate will work with each of the parks’ six operational divisions to assist with establishing file plans based on National Park Service (NPS) guidance and requirements; inventory, classify and assist park staff to manage physical and electronic records and information according to the Federal General Records Schedules and the National Park Service/Department of the Interior records schedule. The associate will coordinate preparation of permanent records for transfer to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Electronic Records Archive and properly dispose of temporary records which have reached their disposition. The associate will develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and other park specific learning aids and trainings to help park staff implement and maintain appropriate workflows for the management of records and information moving forward.
Duty station is at Aztec Ruins National Monument in Aztec, New Mexico. Occasional day trips may occur to Chaco Culture NHP and the parks’ main curatorial facility in Albuquerque, NM.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Work collaboratively with park staff to develop file plans for AZRU and CHCU.
• Assist park staff with creation and implementation of file plans and structures to promote information access.
• Assist with facilitation of Records Management Committee Chair
• Survey and inventory paper and electronic records for proper disposition.
• Coordinate park effort to transfer permanent electronic records to NARA.
• Create and develop standard operating procedures for local management of records and information.
• Develop and deliver training for park staff on general records management awareness and park specific work flows.
Timeline:
• 12 month appointment beginning January 2025
• Full time (40 hrs/week)
Compensation and Benefits:
• Wage: $29.04/hr

Qualifications
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in Management, Business Administration, Information Management or related RIM field and minimum 1 year of experience working in archives and/or records management context evaluating records and information according to established schedules; MLIS, MARA or comparable advanced degree preferred.
• Certified Records Manager (CRM) preferred.
Technical Requirements:
• Proficiency in basic MS Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.)
Additional desired skills:
• Knowledge of federal records management laws, policies, regulations and guidance
• Knowledge and experience in the use of Sharepoint or other equivalent platforms or tools for records and information management.
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize time and work on multiple tasks with ongoing deadlines.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and with diverse audiences, particularly conveying technical information.
• Ability to work independently or with limited supervision to resolve problems.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift boxes up to 35 pounds on a routine basis.
Successful applicant must complete a Department of the Interior (DOI Background Investigation (BI) prior to beginning the position.
Successful applicant must possess a valid state issued driver’s license and clean driving record.
