International Archaeology, LLC is seeking a highly qualified Principal Archaeologist (Archaeology Project Manager) in Hawaii to lead and oversee complex archaeological projects. This role encompasses the comprehensive administration and strategic oversight of assigned projects, including the preparation of cost proposals, budget management, quality assurance, and adherence to project requirements and contractual obligations. The Principal Archaeologist (Archaeology Project Manager) will serve as the primary liaison for clients and subconsultants, ensuring effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
· Prepare cost proposals as requested by clients or in response to solicitations.
· Administer all aspects of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with company policies and objectives.
· Oversee project budgets to ensure cost-effective resource use. Regularly review expense reports and provide management guidance to maintain budget adherence.
· Participate in all client meetings and communications to provide project updates and address any issues.
· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
· Provide project updates to clients and address outstanding items.
· Oversee quality control for all project deliverables to ensure they meet required standards.
· Ensure full compliance with all project and task order requirements, as well as contractual obligations.
· Supervise the preparation of subconsultant agreements by the Project Manager Assistant, ensuring alignment with specific project requirements.
· Manage all communications with subconsultants, ensuring clarity and alignment on project goals and deliverables.
· Set and manage project schedules, coordinating with other company personnel and the Business Office.
· Act as a liaison between the project team and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.
· Inform the Business Office of billing milestones and review project billings before client submission.
· Review and approve invoices from subconsultants, coordinating with the Business Office for timely payment.
Qualifications
· At least five years of experience managing projects.
· A minimum of ten years of professional experience directing medium- to large-scale projects.
· Proven expertise in applying archaeological theories, methods, and techniques.
· Strong archaeology project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with clients, subconsultants, and internal teams.
· Proficiency in project management software and tools.
· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education
Master’s degree or higher in Archaeology or a closely related field, with a specialization in Pacific Island archaeology strongly preferred.
