Archaeologist/Southern Research Full Time

We are seeking a full-time Archaeologist with a master’s degree to join us. We work for a variety of clients, mostly within Georgia but occasionally in surrounding states. When not conducting fieldwork, you could work from home or in our office in Pine Mountain, Georgia.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct field projects and oversee field crews for all phases of fieldwork;
• Conduct historical research, data analysis, NRHP site evaluations, and reporting;
• Consult with clients and agencies;
• Frequent travel within Georgia and occasionally to surrounding states.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field;
• A minimum of one year of previous work experience in Georgia and/or surrounding states;
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and supervision skills;
• Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork in various settings;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
• Experience with GIS and familiarity with current and emerging technologies;
• Valid driver’s license and legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferences:

• Georgia residence
• Both historic and precontact archaeology experience
• Artifact laboratory analysis/processing skills with historic artifact ID background
• Good photography skills

Salary: $52,000 to $64,000, based on experience.
