About the opportunity
SWCA Environmental Consultants is looking for a Wyoming Bureau of Land Management (BLM) – permittable Archaeological Monitor – Field Lead (HR Title: Staff Compliance Monitor) based out of our Rocky Mountain Plains subregion (Bismarck, North Dakota; Denver and Fort Collins, Colorado; and Sheridan, Wyoming). This is a distributed position, and individuals not local to these office locations are encouraged to apply. Project work will include working independently, coordinating with construction crews, monitoring construction, keeping detailed records, and documenting cultural resources. It may also include other field tasks. You will inspect construction areas, identify cultural materials, collect data with tablets, record sites using state-specific protocols, and make National Register of Historic Places evaluations. A key element of your job will be to independently supervise an archaeological monitor in the field.
This is an on-call, hourly, regular-status, benefitted position for the duration of the monitoring project. Duration of the project will be commensurate with the construction schedule, which will be approximately mid-April to mid-November 2024. You will typically work according to the construction schedule. Daily work will typically vary between 8 to 12 hours, depending on the construction crew’s schedule and needs. Work will typically occur Monday through Saturday, with Sunday off and lodging and per diem covered. This is a multi-year project and returning work is possible every year. After seasonal project completion, SWCA will make best efforts to find extended employment for the candidate on other projects, although it is not guaranteed. Pay ranges from $27.30/hour to $34.65/hour commensurate with experience and role, with overtime paid at time-and-a-half, paid sick-time accrual, paid travel to and from the project location, and single-occupancy lodging. Lodging will be provided in apartments leased by SWCA rather than hotels. Per diem is $59/day.
Application deadline: Our team will begin reviewing applications immediately, and interviews will be scheduled with qualified candidates on a rolling basis. The application process will remain open until we have received a robust pool of qualified candidates. Once we have identified suitable individuals, we may close the application process without prior notice. We appreciate the time and effort invested by all applicants and will carefully consider each submission.
