The Center for Environmental Management Military Lands (CEMML) is hiring multiple Archaeologist, Crew Chief, and Technician positions for a Phase I/II surveys at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. All positions must work closely, and in collaboration with, the CEMML Cultural Resources Project Manager and Army Cultural Resource Manager (CRM).
Archaeologist/Crew Chief Responsibilities: Archival and background research, coordinate scheduling and logistics to accomplish fieldwork, function as a working supervisor for a team of field technicians, and oversee Phase I/II surveys, systematic shovel testing, GPS data collection and field mapping, artifact collection, and photo and site recordation. May be assigned control and coordination of additional survey tasks under guidance from CEMML supervisor.
All work must be done in accordance with applicable Army, Federal, and State regulations and laws, especially regarding historic/cultural preservation, endangered species, safety, and health. Must be able to communicate and interact with internal/external staff, officials, and the public in a professional manner. Work requires independent judgment/decision making, technical writing and organizational skills, attention to detail, and people skills. Must be able to work in a structured work environment with established lines of authority, procedures, and protocols. The candidate must be familiar with and comfortable conducting activities such as walking, surveying, testing, screening, and driving in areas with rough terrain, and where inclement weather conditions may occur. LOCATION: This position is located at Fort Liberty, one of the largest United States Army installations in the country. Located in central North Carolina approximately 50 miles southwest of Raleigh, Fort Liberty is home of the US Army 82nd Airborne and Special Forces Command. Fort Liberty and the surrounding cities offer numerous historic sites, museums, colleges and universities, multiple entertainment venues, and parks and recreation centers.

PAY RATE: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Archaeologist/Crew Chiefs: $51,157-$59,683 for positions lasting up to 12-months
