Job Description
Responsible for managing the archaeology projects that have been assigned from creation to completion. This includes conducting preliminary research on projects, overseeing fieldwork and lab work, and producing final archaeological reports that comply with legal, regulatory, professional, and scientific standards.

Work Environment
This job will primarily operate in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Remote work is a possibility at times with this position. This job may also operate underground, at high altitude, in excessive heat or cold, in excessive humidity or dampness, with excessive continuous noise, on slippery and uneven walking surfaces, working around machinery with moving parts, working around moving objects or vehicles, working in close proximity to others, and have protracted or irregular hours of work.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required Education and Experience
Physical Demands
Ability to travel and conduct fieldwork for long hours (sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and at high altitudes) and to carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Moderate light lifting (30 lbs) with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs., repetitive motion of upper body and limbs, reaching above shoulders, use of fingers (dexterity and normal sensation required, use of both hands required), extensive walking over rough terrain, standing in limited spaces for extended periods, use of both legs, depth perception, ability to detect odors, clear vision and speech, ability to hear clearly.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
Due to the variable project timeframes, this position will be assigned hours as projects require.
Travel
A minimal amount of overnight travel is expected for this position. Travel to and from project sites is required.
Pay Range
 $32 – $53/hr

Job Experience Length (in years)
Minimum 10+ years of archaeology experience.
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably at the field director level.
Previous project management experience.

Register of Professional Archaeologist (RPA) Certification
SOI qualified archaeologist.
