Field Archaeologists/Apogee Environmental & Archaeological Temporary

Apogee Environmental & Archaeological, Inc. is seeking field archaeologists to support upcoming Phase I surveys in the Mid-Atlantic beginning November 13. Pay range is $20-$22/hr and per diem is $55/day. Per diem is included with each paycheck via direct deposit. Single occupancy hotel rooms are provided. We anticipate making this a salaried staff position with full benefits in 2024 for the right candidate.

Fieldwork for the week of November 13 is located in Deptford, New Jersey and will involve shovel testing. This project guarantees no less than 40 hours, including drive time. Per diem will be $50/day.

The following project is slated for December 4 and entails test unit excavation around a lighthouse in North Carolina expected to last 1-2 weeks. Due to limited accommodations available on the island, a house will be rented where each person will have a private bedroom with a shared kitchen and bathrooms. Per diem will be $55/day.

Following projects include large-scale solar surveys in Virginia and eastern West Virginia leading into the new year. 

Required Education and Experience:

• BA in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field from an accredited university.
• Successful completion of an accredited US-based field school
• Experience with Phase I archaeological survey in the eastern United States (minimum 3-6 months)
• Overnight travel required
