Petra Resource Management (PRM) has immediate openings in California for on-call archaeological field staff in Kern and surrounding counties. PRM is a consulting firm specializing in archaeology and cultural resource management (CRM) with offices in Pasadena and San Diego. PRM is always searching for motivated cultural resource professionals to join our growing team.
Our current projects include Cultural Resource Surveys and Monitoring for Southern California Edison (SCE). The projects involve pedestrian surveys of areas surrounding proposed structure/pole work and access routes, and monitoring of ground disturbing construction activities. Other opportunities may include monitoring and survey work for projects in San Bernardino, Kern, Tulare, Inyo, and Mono counties. Hiring will occur on an as-needed basis per individual project until fully staffed.
Work duties will be performed outdoors and often in remote backcountry environments. Duties may require driving four-wheel drive vehicles over rough roads, hiking in rough terrain, standing for long periods, excavation of shovel test probes, and the lifting and transport of loads up to 25 lbs.
Pay will be based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities. Per diem for lodging and meals may be available, depending on distance to the project site. For temporary positions, sick leave accrues (one hour for every 30 hours worked), but no other benefits are provided. Hourly rates: $25 to $35.
