Archaeologist/Southern Research Full Time

Southern Research is a small woman-owned company specializing in History and Archaeology, established 30 years ago. As a small company, we maintain a low-key and low-stress atmosphere while providing our clients with excellent work.  We are looking for a full-time, permanent Archaeologist to join us. Work will involve frequent travel and overseeing field crews for all phases of fieldwork, with Phase I the most common. The bulk of the work will be in the state of Georgia, while work in the surrounding states is expected as well. In addition to fieldwork, duties will include data analysis, research, writing reports, NRHP site evaluations, client and agency consultation, GIS, and other tasks related to overseeing and conducting projects. Aside from fieldwork, the candidate may choose to work in our office, remotely, or some combination of this. Salary will range from $52,000 to $64,000, based on amount of experience.

Qualifications:

• A master’s degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related field;
• Two+ years of previous work in Georgia and/or surrounding states desired;
• Able to work alone or supervise field technicians as needed;
• Ability and willingness to travel;
• Able to conduct field work in difficult settings;
• Able to work with others as a team player;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Flexible and adaptable;
• Attention to detail;
• Familiarity with current and emerging technologies in the industry;
• A valid driver’s license;
• Legally authorized and permitted to work in the United States.
