American Resources Group, Ltd., is a small cultural resources management company based in Carbondale, Illinois. We are soliciting resumes for temporary, full-time positions as archaeological technicians for upcoming Phase I survey projects in the Midwest and eastern Plains. Upcoming projects for which positions are being filled will extend through the winter and into the spring, and there is the possibility of permanent employment for qualified individuals as well, although not immediately.
Applicants must be able to hike long distances in rugged terrain, under adverse field conditions, while carrying up to 30 pounds of weight. It is preferred that applicants have a B.A. in Anthropology or a related field, but extensive experience conducting archaeological field work will be accepted in lieu of a degree. Field mobilizations typically last 10–12 days (including travel), and the typical work day is 9–10 hours long.
The hourly pay rates for the open technician positions range from $18 to $22, depending on experience, and overtime is paid at one-and-a-half times base rate. Per diem rates range from $45 to $59, depending on the project, and single-occupancy motel rooms will be provided on work days.
