Location: United States, SD, Rapid City
We are seeking experienced Principal Archaeologists/Investigators that will be based out of our Rapid City, South Dakota location with travel across the United States. Required tasks include communication, project planning and management, supervising cultural resource inventories, archeological/historical/traditional cultural property site evaluation and mitigation, staff leadership, consulting with state and federal agencies and tribes, and writing and reviewing reports. Successful candidates will become integral members of our team of professionals and work in a responsive, positive environment.
In this role, you will be part of a collaborative team that works in multiple states across the US in support of a variety of industries, services, and government agencies, completing over 700 projects per year. We work with multiple tribes on many projects both for tribal and non-tribal groups and projects. To be considered for this position a minimum of 3 years’ experience is required.
A comprehensive employee benefits package is provided, including health and dental insurance, retirement plan with 401k match, bonus opportunity, paid leave, and paid holidays. The minimum range for this salaried-exempt position is $56,000 per year, but is flexible and commensurate with the credentials, experience, and industry qualifications. This position also brings with it the potential for a promotional opportunity and an increase in salary.
Relocation expense reimbursement or a sign-on bonus may be available for highly qualified selected applicants.

Overview
A Principal Archaeologist is responsible for conducting small to medium size archaeological surveys, site testing projects, data recovery excavations, preservation planning, and research design development. The individual will be highly motivated and of a self-directed nature.

Travel Requirements
Variable in nature, with the duration being dependent upon requirements of the project(s) involved. Travel can be regional (within 1 day’s drive), primarily by car. There will also be a need for rare travel by air to conferences, meetings, etc. This position requires a valid non-commercial driver’s license and insurability under company policy.
