MCA is a growing CRM and professional archaeological compliance firm located in Tucson, Arizona. We are seeking ARCHAEOLOGICAL FIELD TECHNICIANS for projects primarily located in southeastern AZ. Occasionally, there will be opportunities for work in other parts of AZ. This position will begin as temporary/project-based, possibly becoming permanent.  
We specialize in cultural resource surveys required by local, state, and federal regulations before land development. We are a private, locally owned, operated small business established in 2014. We are fully licensed, permitted, and insured to conduct various archaeological compliance projects in Arizona and the Greater Southwest region.   
The ideal candidates will possess the following preferred qualifications: (We will also consider students currently studying archaeology, actively enrolled in field school, or recent graduates.)   

A Bachelor of Archaeology, Anthropology or closely related science is preferred. Or equivalent work experience.   
Completion of an accredited field school is preferred.  
A minimum of 6 months of CRM field experience, specifically in archaeological pedestrian survey is preferred.   
Primary residence located in Tucson, or the surrounding area preferred.  

Required qualifications:  

Candidates should be familiar with archaeological site recording, artifact identification, mapping, accurate completion of the appropriate paperwork, use of tablets and electronic field equipment, and other common field tasks.   
Demonstrate a “safety first” focus in the field.   
Must be physically able to navigate steep slopes, ridges, mountains, uneven terrain, loose gravel, rock outcrops, and dense foliage while sometimes carrying large, heavy packs of gear.   
Physically capable of working 8-to-10-hour days, sometimes in intense heat or extreme cold. Occasionally field sessions will last for up to 8 days.   
The ability to camp at remote locations as needed.   
Experience working in the Southwest, specifically Arizona.   
You must have access to a reliable vehicle for transportation to projects throughout Arizona when needed. In most cases, MCA will provide transportation from our home base in Tucson to project locations.   
Must be 18 or older.   
Must have a current Driver’s License and be able to pass an MVD authorization.   

We offer a competitive hourly rate ranging from $17 to $21 commensurate with experience. Students may start at $16 per hour on a case-by-case basis. MCA will provide single occupancy lodging as needed. Employees will receive per diem for overnight projects. Additional per diem will apply to all field sessions requiring camping. In addition, when scheduling sessions, we aim to give as much notice as possible and offer some flexibility based on your availability. This position may lead to permanent employment.
