Applied Archaeology and History Associates, Inc. (AAHA), a woman-owned cultural resources consulting firm located in Crofton, Maryland, has immediate openings for archaeological crew chiefs for current and upcoming projects in the Mid-Atlantic. The positions have the potential to become permanent based on prior experience and performance.
Part Time Hourly Wage: $23.00-$27.00/hr commensurate on experience and capabilities. Positions are eligible for overtime. Location: Field tasks are located throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Office tasks will be based in Crofton, MD. Full Time Permanent Positions: Full time permanent positions including health, retirement, long-term disability, and PTO benefits available for well-qualified candidates in the vicinity of Crofton, MD.
Minimum Qualifications:
M.A./M.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field and 1 year of supervisory field experience in CRM project environments or;
B.A./B.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field and 3 years’ field experience in CRM project environments with 1 year of supervisory experience
Be able to traverse overgrown areas with up to 30 lbs of equipment, be able to hike 8 hours per day
Have a valid driver’s license with a clean record and a cell phone
Ability to use verbal and written communication to listen and communicate effectively and work cooperatively with crew members and supervisory staff
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years’ experience leading archaeological crews for Phase I, II, III and archaeological monitoring fieldwork in the Mid-Atlantic Region
Ability to complete assigned tasks as part of a team
Have a commitment to safety and demonstrate responsible decision-making skills
Ability to manage and maintain project schedules
Be highly organized with experience drafting and compiling field generated data (maps, paperwork, logs, artifacts, etc.)
Working knowledge of Windows based computer programs and database systems
Familiarity working with GPS field equipment (Trimble) and software
Working experience using GIS software to generate project materials
Strong writing skills and experience preparing technical reports
