Archaeological Field Director/ESI Full Time

We are seeking a full-time SOI qualified Archaeological Field Director to aid in multiple Cultural Resource projects. The Field Director will be based out of their home location but expected to travel for fieldwork. When not in the field, the applicant will work remotely from home.  The Field Director will be responsible for assisting in background research, training and supervising field crews, conducting safety meetings, completing quality control of the crew’s work, submitting detailed and accurate paperwork, and contributing to reports when necessary. The applicant must have strong leadership and communication skills and be well organized.

Compensation:

• Salary starting at $60,000.
• This is a salaried position. Eligible employees may accrue extra Paid Time Off as “Comp Time” and/or receive additional pay for overtime they work. Eligibility requirements must be met.
• This position is eligible for ESI’s standard benefits package.

Requirements:

• MA in anthropology, archaeology, or related field.
• Must be Secretary  of the Interior Qualified
• A graduate degree in archeology, anthropology, or closely related field.
• At least one year of full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archeological research, administration, or management.
• At least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archeology.
• Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.
• A professional in prehistoric archeology shall have at least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archeological resources of the prehistoric period. A professional in historic archeology shall have at least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archeological resources of the historic period.
• 2-3 years of relevant field experience.
• Must be able to pass all pre-hire screenings.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications:

• Completed an archaeological field school as part of their education.
• Able to identify historic and precontact artifacts and features.
• Able to take accurate field notes.
• Familiar with field maps and navigation.
• Able to travel and work in the field for extended periods of time.
• Able to work in remote locations with rugged terrains on projects that require walking and carrying 30+ lbs. gear for extended periods of time. 
• Able to work in variable weather conditions.
