The NDN Companies is a woman-owned 8(a) environmental firm recognized as one of the fastest growing small businesses in Northeast Florida. We are seeking a full-time COMPLIANCE ARCHAEOLOGIST to provide contract support to the Cultural Resources Program on Tyndall Air Force Base (AFB), Panama City, Florida. Potential candidates must possess a graduate degree in archaeology or a related field and at least five years of experience in archaeology.
 
The selected individual will perform the following tasks:

Review projects and activities on the base for compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act and 36 CFR 800,
Draft letters for consultation with the State Historic Preservation Office, Advisory Council of Historic Preservation, and Native American Tribes,
Independently conduct construction monitoring, Phase I surveys, and Phase II evaluations of archaeological sites.
 Evaluate facilities for listing on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
 Write reports documenting the results of fieldwork.
Analyze and prepare artifact collections for curation.

We are seeking individuals with:

Knowledge of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (as amended), the Archeological Resources Protection Act, the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act, and other pertinent laws and regulations governing historic resources.
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with the military, regulatory agency personnel, Native American tribes, the public, and other interested parties.
Expertise in field excavation and survey techniques, analysis of prehistoric and historic artifacts, data creation and interpretation, evaluation of properties for NRHP listing, and the composition and preparation of compliance documentation and reports.
Proficiency using GPS units, GIS software (e.g., ESRI products), the Microsoft Suite, and Adobe software.
Flexibility to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
Eagerness to adapt to new challenges, anticipate needs, and maintain a positive attitude.
Ability to pass background checks and requirements to work on military installations.
Possess a driver’s license, maintain a clean driving record, and operate 4-wheel drive vehicles.
Ability to carry up to 50 lbs., traverse uneven terrain, and work in physically demanding environments and weather conditions.
Knowledge of or experience working in the Florida Panhandle is preferred.

Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on Tyndall AFB.
