The Elko District has hundreds of riparian, aspen, and special status plant exclosures scattered throughout its boundaries, most of which are in some state of disrepair. Impact by cattle and material weathering contribute to this degradation. Two Rangeland-Habitat Exclosure Monitoring Technicians will travel to designated exclosures and perform condition assessments, gathering data on structural integrity of exclosures and characterizing habitat. The technicians will also compile field data for use by exclosure maintenance crews in 2023.

Starting March 20 - full time (40 hours/week)
Location:
This work will be based out of the BLM District Office in Elko, Nevada. The Elko District encompasses 12.5 million acres and has topography typical of the Great Basin with broad valleys separated by mountain ranges. Elevations range from 4,000 to over 10,000 feet. The city of Elko (pop. 21,000) is located along the I-80 corridor and is approximately 230 miles west of Salt Lake City, UT and 290 miles east of Reno, NV. Recreation opportunities, including hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing, abound in this region.
