Applied EarthWorks, Inc. (Æ) is accepting applications for Field Technician to support upcoming projects on California’s Central Coast. Æ is a 100-percent ESOP Employee Owned consulting firm specializing in cultural resources management (CRM), history, archaeology, GIS and paleontology. Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out pre-construction field surveys and excavations, and monitor construction. Local candidates preferred, but lodging and meals reimbursement is available for selected projects.

Skill Requirements: 

 	
Field experience with archaeological survey and/or excavation;
 	
Knowledge of and basic operation of GPS technology (iPad/Arrow);
 	
Ability to safely drive on unimproved / dirt roads;
 	
Physically fit and able to safely handle strenuous field conditions in sometimes adverse weather. Fieldwork may require hiking on rugged/uneven terrain and steep slopes; standing or walking for long periods of time throughout the day; lifting and carrying loads up to 40 pounds; stooping, bending, and kneeling.
 	
Valid drivers license / Real ID or passport; ability to pass a basic background screening for entry onto Department of Defense installations;
 	
Pre-employment drug screening may apply for specific project assignments.

Education/Experience:

Experience in California archaeology and completion of an archaeology field school preferred. Applicants must be able to work successfully as a team member. High performers will be considered for additional assignments and offers of regular, full-time positions.

Compensation: 

Applied EarthWorks offers a wide range of benefits and a competitive compensation package.  Eligibility for benefits is earned with length of service and includes paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and professional development time; 401(k); and health, dental, vision, and life insurance. Pay Range: FTEC I $20 to FTEC II $30 per hour, appropriate to capabilities and experience. When applicable, expense reimbursement will be provided.
