Providence is seeking to employ a full-time, temporary Archaeological Crew Chief that will conduct Phase I, II, and III archaeological fieldwork and various office-based activities. They will also participate in project planning, logistics, and detailing survey findings as well as assessment of resources. Assignments will be field and office-based, with the expectation that up to 75 percent or more of the time will be in the field.
Do you acquire the following education, knowledge, skills, and abilities?

B.A. in Archaeology, Anthropology, or other closely related fields.
Completion of an archaeological field school. 
 1-5 years of experience in all aspects of archaeological fieldwork with supervisory experience.
Familiarity with digital field technology (GPS units, tablets, cameras).
Ability to follow instructions and work independently or with a team. 
Meticulous with detail

Can you perform the physical requirements?

Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
Ability to walk long distances.
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time.

Can you execute our essential duties and responsibilities? 

Assist with the supervision of aspects of archaeological survey, site recording and evaluations, and archaeological testing and data recovery under the direction of a Principal  Investigator or Senior Archaeologist.
Maintain and provide QA/QC of field documentation and paperwork.
Assist with office-based tasks, including background research, site, historic structure form, and technical report preparation.
Ensure safety and quality standards, policies, and procedures.
Process and document prehistoric and historic artifacts and field photographs.
