Providence is seeking to employ a full-time, temporary Archaeological Field/Laboratory Technician that will conduct Phase I, II, and III archaeological fieldwork and various office-based activities. They will also participate in project planning, logistics, and detailing survey findings as well as assessment of resources. Assignments will be field and office-based, with the expectation that up to 75 percent or more of the time will be in the field.
Do you acquire the following education, knowledge, skills, and abilities?

B.A. in Archaeology, Anthropology or other closely related field.
Completion of an archaeological field school.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Meticulous with detail

Can you meet the physical requirements?

Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time.
Ability to travel frequently and on short notice.
Ability to walk long distances.
Ability to lift 30 lbs.

Can you execute our essential duties and responsibilities? 

Archaeological fieldwork including monitoring, Ph I survey, Ph II testing, and Ph III data recovery under the supervision of Field Directors and/or Principal Investigators.
Applicants must be able to perform all field tasks associated with surveying, archaeological site recording, post-field site form completion, and digital photography.
Assists with mapping cultural resources in the field, including collection of GPS data using Trimble units or Arc Collector, conducting digital photography, and recording resources on appropriate state forms and tablets.
Performs manual labor including excavation with shovels and screening.
Must be able to work extended field rotations.
Performs artifact processing including washing, sorting, and cataloging artifacts.
