    string(2128) "Michael Baker International is seeking to hire temporary Archaeological Field Technicians (Cultural Resource Associates) based out of the Moon Township Office in Pittsburgh, PA for upcoming Phase I archaeological field investigations in central/southern West Virginia.  We need (10) technicians for this location.

 

Work is tentatively scheduled to begin in May 2022 and potentially continuing through August 2022. This is a per diem job, and hotel will be pre-paid.  Hourly rate $18.00.

 

Local candidates within 5 hours drive of Davis, WV preferred!

This is a temporary position.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 	
Conducting archaeological field investigations
 	
Traveling to project locations in multiple states
 	
Conducting reconnaissance surveys and shovel testing
 	
Identifying and delineating archaeological sites
 	
Performing deep soil excavations in conjunction with geomorphological evaluations
 	
Assisting in the collection of field data and archival background contextual information
 	
Identifying prehistoric and historic artifacts
 	
Conducting detailed excavations of archaeological features

 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 	
Possess a degree (B.A. minimally or demonstration of curriculum leading to degree) in Anthropology (Archaeology), Cultural Resource Management, History, Geology, Soil Science or related field
 	
Demonstration of experience in performing the tasks detailed above is preferred
 	
The successful candidate must be a licensed driver
 	
Demonstrated experience in Phase I surveys and Phase II excavations a plus
 	
Preference will also be given to individuals with health and safety certifications, as well as, knowledge of soils, urban archaeology, pre-contact archaeology, and GPS
 	
Compass and orienteering skills preferred
