Hicks & Company Environmental/Archeological Consultants is seeking a temporary archeological field technician for Phase II work in Central Austin, beginning immediately.
Responsibilities:  The technician will be responsible for backhoe trench monitoring, hand excavation, and site documentation, including historic feature and artifact identification and analyses; descriptions; photographs; and mapping. 
Minimally, technician will be required to perform the following tasks in the field:

Conduct backhoe trench monitoring and hand excavation in time-sensitive conditions
Complete plan views and profiles of features
Complete field forms accurately and concisely
Operate a Trimble GPS
Photograph resources

Qualifications:  

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Archeology, Anthropology, or a related field and completion of an accredited archeological field school 
Demonstrated experience in identifying and recording prehistoric and historic resources in Texas
Minimum of 6 months of field experience (e.g., survey, testing, and data recovery)
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (extreme heat) and be in good health
Experience with curation beneficial but not required

Salary Range:  $20.00 or DOE
