Primary Responsibilities
HDR, Alaska Inc. needs motivated archaeological field technicians for archaeological survey and data recovery for the 2023 field season (May – October). This is a seasonal full-time position based out of HDR’s Anchorage, AK office. The successful applicant will be eligible for the ACRA Healthcare Program.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be familiar with archaeological fieldwork and documentation. The candidate must be available for fieldwork and travel throughout Alaska. Archaeological field technicians are responsible for conducting pedestrian survey and data recovery efforts. Tasks will include pedestrian survey, shovel testing, excavation, and documentation. This includes feature and artifact identification and analyses, field forms, photographs, shovel test pits, excavation units, and mapping. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of a crew chief and the Field Director. The candidate should expect to spend the majority of his/her time outdoors conducting data recovery field efforts. The candidate must communicate effectively with a team and maintain professional ethical standards.
