You will serve as a HISTORIAN in the MARINE CORPS HISTORY DIVISION located at Marine Corps University in Quantico, VA.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing reference and research services pertaining to United States and United States military history; 2) Overseeing historical programs (ie. Military Commemorative Naming Programs, Lineage and Honors Programs); 3) Drafting, editing, publishing, and reviewing the accuracy of articles and reports on historic military events; and 3) Providing archival digitization support for print resources.

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must posses:
Basic Education Requirement:
A. Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

The following can be substituted in order to meet the minimum qualification requirements of this position at the GS-11 Level:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
a combination of graduate education and experience totaling 100%.
Evaluation of Graduate Education
Graduate study in the social sciences or humanities may also be credited when such study included training in historical research methodology; or the thesis approached the subject from an historical viewpoint and used professional historical research methodology and techniques in its preparation.
