Summary
About the Position: Serves as Museum Technician (History) at the Air Defense Artillery Training Support Facility. Performing a full range of duties to include but not limited to accessioning, cataloging, storage, and restoration of artifacts within the collection, researching the history of Air Defense Artillery and the artifacts in the collection, exhibit design and fabrication, and providing Soldier Education in connection with the management of the Training Support Facility.
Duties

Assist Museum Curator with the accessioning, cataloging and storage of artifacts within the collection.
Maintain accession registers, historical property jackets, and donor files.
Ensure proper cleaning, repair and preservation of historical artifacts used in the museum exhibits in accordance with established professional museum standards.
Assist Museum Curator with research and implementation of the museum?s military history education, Soldier Education and outreach programs for military and civilian audiences.
Assist researchers and answers inquiries on artifacts in the collection based on personal knowledge and object research.

Conditions of Employment

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
The incumbent must possess developing skill and knowledge in military historical museum work, general historic knowledge that is represented in the museum, research methods, writing, speaking, and conversation techniques.
Must be able to accurately read, transcribe and write numbers, letters and words without mechanical aids.
This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
Must possess a valid civilian driver's license.

Qualifications
Work Environment: Most work is performed in an office which is properly heated, lighted and ventilated. However, some of the work is performed in areas that are not climate controlled and the employee will be required to visit those areas to conduct inventories, routine maintenance of the buildings and other needs as they arise.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience properly identifying artifacts to ensure accessioning and cataloging is accurate; maintaining record documentation of data utilizing an automated system such as Museum Information System or PastPerfect; maintaining facility social media platforms; and maintaining plans for storage of artifacts.
This specialized experience is equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service.

Education:
Successful completion of 1 full academic year of related graduate level education or superior academic achievement leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as Museum Studies or History. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Specialized Experience and Education:
Specialized experience as described above, but less than one year; and at least one year of related graduate level education. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
