Part Time or Full Time
Marstel-Day, LLC, a premier environmental consulting firm, is seeking an on-call Architectural Historian to assist our Cultural Resources program. The position will entail technical work focusing on building surveys, historic landscape surveys, historic context writing, evaluations for the National Register of Historic Places, technical guidelines for repairs and maintenance, design guidelines, preparing interpretative materials, and projects conducted under the National Environmental Policy Act.
Qualification Requirements:

Master’s degree in historic preservation (or similar field).
5-8 years of experience as an Architectural Historian
Experience in surveying, research, and historic context writing.
Knowledge of architectural styles, materials, and structural terminology.
Understanding of the National Register of Historic Places.
Possess a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent writing skills.
Competency and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word®, Excel®, Outlook® and PowerPoint®. Proficiency with ArcGIS® or other GIS programs are highly desired skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to prepare concise papers and studies, and to develop briefing slides and other decision-support materials.

Responsibilities:

Fieldwork to survey a variety of resource types.
In-person and online archival research.
Documenting historic resources.
Writing property descriptions, historical narratives, significance statements, and NRHP evaluations.
Preparing State Historic Preservation Office inventory forms.
Section 106 effect evaluations and preparation of consultation letters to SHPOs and tribes.
Technical report writing.

The incumbent must:

The applicant must be a United States citizen.
The applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S. (DHS Form I-9 must be completed by the incumbent and submitted to DHS for verification of citizenship and eligibility through E-Verify)
The applicant will be required to submit to a background check as a condition of any final offer of employment (Depending on the exact nature of the work, the applicant may also be required to submit to a credit and financial background check. This required contingency and evaluation continues even after hiring.)

Salary and Benefits:
The Company will pay a competitive salary or wage commensurate with the incumbent’s level of education, certification/registration, experience, and responsibilities.
