Richard Grubb and Associates (RGA) is seeking senior level geophysical archaeologist to direct our geophysical program. This individual will be based at our Nashville, Tennessee or Wake Forest, North Carolina branch offices or our New Jersey headquarters. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional to join our growing full-service cultural resource management firm, to grow our geophysical practice, and to work with our dedicated staff on a wide variety of projects.  
The candidate will be a technical expert with at least 10 years’ experience in the areas of geophysics and archaeology and will be responsible for the growth and management of our geophysical program.  Major areas of responsibility include supervising staff and coordinating with project managers, staff development, preparing proposals and cost estimates, marketing RGA’s geophysical and archaeological services, and managing all aspects of geophysical survey projects. The successful candidate must be a superior writer and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities include:

Start-to-finish management of geophysical investigations and remote sensing projects such as ground penetrating radar (GPR), magnetic gradiometry, electrical resistance, and conductivity/magnetic susceptibility.
Technical writing including reports, work plans, proposals, and marketing materials.
Review of reports prepared by geophysical staff.
Developing scopes of work, work plans, and proposals, including budgets.
Managing project schedules and budgets.
Managing client relations and expectations.
Working in an integrated manner with RGA’s management team.
Marketing RGA’s remote sensing capability both internally and externally.
Advising on active investigations via geophysical survey results and site interpretation.
Coordination with clients, including state and federal agencies.
Conduct geophysical and remote sensing studies as needed.

 Qualified applicants should possess:

An MA/MS degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, Geosciences, or related field and 10 years of experience in the field.
Meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Archaeology. Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) designation preferred.
Project and personnel management experience.
Demonstrated ability to conduct geophysical survey projects and experience with GPR, magnetometer and other remote sensing techniques; experience post-processing geophysical data using GPR Slice, RADAN 7, Geoplot 4, Surfer and interpret GPR Time-slices and Radargrams.
Ability to operate GIS software (ArcMap 10.7) and mapping equipment, such as Garmin and Trimble GPS units and Total Station.
Experience working in historic cemeteries
Knowledge of pre-Contact and historic sites and the archaeology of eastern North America.
Willingness to travel for projects.
Superior writing, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Willingness and enthusiasm to mentor staff.
Valid driver’s license.
 The position regularly works in outside conditions that include varying weather conditions and temperatures.
The position requires the candidate to traverse up to 10 miles per day for fieldwork and frequently moves equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

This full-time position includes a competitive pay and benefits package.  The salary range is $80,000-$93,000 per year. Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; group medical, dental, and vision insurance; and a 401k plan with employer contribution.
