RK&K is seeking qualified candidates for a Professional Archaeological Field Manager or Project Archaeologist to support on-going and upcoming archaeological projects in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions. This is a permanent, full-time position to be based out of one of RK&K’s office locations in North Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia. We offer a flexible office/home work arrangement, when not in the field. The Project Archaeologist , Field Manager will collaborate closely with other staff archaeologists, architectural historians, and environmental planners to conduct project planning , logistics , fieldwork , artifact analysis , and report writing. This position will require regular travel away from the home office. Primary field assignments expected in North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
Advanced degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or closely related field
5+ years of archaeological experience ( Eastern US preferred )
2+ years of archaeological field project management experience implementing archaeological work plans and supervising archaeological crew chiefs and field archaeologists
Register of Professional Archaeologists ( RPA )
Experience with both precontact and historic period archaeological research
Understanding of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act
Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes archaeologists , architectural historians , and environmental planners
Solid research, technical writing, and communication skills
Strong attention to detail when authoring and reviewing work
Fluent with Microsoft Office
Experience with ArcGIS

Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and industry standards. The anticipated salary range for this position is approximately $50,000-$70,000 annually.
