WCA Environmental Consultants is an employee-owned company of environmental professionals who specialize in natural and cultural resource management, environmental planning, and regulatory compliance. We are seeking a Cultural Resources Writer to help support New Mexico/Four Corner region. This is a remote, regular, full-time salaried position. Pay will be based on individual qualifications and experience. What you will accomplish

Write cultural resource documents and sections of documents including Programmatic Agreements, data recovery reports, treatment plans, EA and EIS sections, and survey reports.
Write and review reports and sections of documents for content, clarity, and consistency.
Evaluate report content and organization to ensure that it achieves its purpose and strive for consistency among various documents prepared for the same client.
Take initiative, resolve problems, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in the most effective manner.
Assist SWCA editors and cultural resource Principal Investigators in training other staff in writing-related matters.
 

Experience and qualifications for success
Required

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field required.
Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in cultural surveys and resource management, in either the public or private sector.
Experience working with scientists, planners, engineers, contractors, and agency specialists.
Proficiency in writing cultural resources technical reports -- these may include those related to the National Historic Preservation Act
Sections 106 and/or 110; New Mexico State Historic Preservation guidelines; Bureau of Land Management;  and/or other cultural resources requirements.

Preferred

Experience in preparing reports and permits as primary author for variety of project types and sizes.
Ability to work as member of a team and independently to make decisions and complete tasks in the most effective manner.
Willingness to learn and grow into increased project-management and supervisorial responsibilities.
