Role Overview:
This is a staff ARCHAEOLOGIST position at the Indiana Department of Transportation in the Cultural Resources Office of the Environmental Services Division. The position is classified as an Environmental Manager 2 and compensated within that pay range. Applicants _must_ meet or soon be able to meet the Secretary of the Interior's requirements for a Qualified Professional. The position performs fieldwork and reviews consultant-prepared documentation of archaeological resources impacted by transportation projects. Background in industrial archaeology, midwestern archaeology, Section 106, Tribal consultation, document preparation and review, and/or transportation planning preferred.

As the Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for environmental analysis, as well as control or enforcement activities under direct or close supervision. In this position, you will perform assignments in one or more of the following areas: permit development and review; environmental inspections and/or enforcement activities; scientific studies; surveys and/or scientific analyses; assistance for grants and technical guidance to regulated facilities; government officials, and the public. You will act as a liaison to the program’s constituents (including various industries and environmental consulting firms), and coordinate with interested federal, state, and local agencies.
