If you answered yes to those questions, consider joining the Historical Studies team in TxDOT’s Environmental Affairs Division (ENV) Cultural Resource Management section, part of TxDOT’s diverse workforce of almost 12,000 people across the state. The position requires expertise in state and federal environmental regulations related to cultural resources, specifically those related to non-archeological historic properties. Candidates should meet the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) Professional Qualification Standards for History, Architectural History, and/or Historic Architecture (36 CFR 61).
The ideal candidate is someone who has a demonstrated understanding of the National Historic Preservation Act, Section 106 and Texas Antiquities Code regulations, who has a working knowledge of Texas’ architectural and infrastructure history, and who values public service.

Position Description
Candidate provides high-level expertise and technical support to assist in the clearance of transportation projects in compliance with state and federal environmental laws related to cultural resources and historic properties. Work requires considerable contact with governmental agencies, private entities, and the public. Work includes substantial written and oral communication; analysis, understanding, and presentation of information from technical reports and engineering plans; and documentation of environmental compliance work in agency data management systems.

Working knowledge of contract management policies, procedures, and record-keeping
High capacity to plan and implement strategies to develop appropriate informational and educational materials for internal and external audiences
