Job Summary
The Veterans Curation Program Laboratory Manager works closely with other management staff to provide leadership, training, and oversight for the curation of archaeological and archival collections processed in the VCP laboratory. This position is responsible for ensuring technicians are successfully trained in processing documentation associated with archaeological excavations and providing assistance that may help with the veterans’ transition to the civilian workforce.
Essential Functions:

Oversee daily processing of federally-owned archives and artifact collections
Develop training materials and facilitate training of technicians in collections processing
Instruct technicians on data entry and database management
Ensure collections meet federal and state curation standards
Perform daily administrative duties, including bi-weekly report writing
Draft and edit finding aids and collection management reports
Perform quality control on archival databases, artifact catalogs, reports, photographs, and scans
Actively provide professional advice and guidance to technicians, including resume building
Generate social media content.
Represent the program to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel, military representatives, veteran service organizations, and community members

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Archival/Information Studies, Museum Studies, Historic Preservation or closely related field
Experience with public archaeology outreach and education

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, Archival/Information Studies, Museum Studies, Historic Preservation or closely related field
Field school or cultural resource management experience

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly rate of $34.00
Federal holidays; 15 Days paid leave; Paid Health/Dental/Life Insurance; 401k (after one year)
