POWER Engineers, Inc., one of the nation’s strongest energy-related engineering and environmental consultants, is seeking one permittable Archaeological Field Director for fieldwork on multiple archaeological field projects in California.
This is a full-time staff position. Pay will range between $30-$40 per hour and will be determined by education and experience. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead archaeological survey work on federal lands in California and write reports for federal and state agency submittal. Projects may involve extended periods of fieldwork in remote areas including other West Coast states. Additional work/tasks may arise providing additional work opportunities. Permittable experience on all BLM lands throughout the State is highly desirable. Remote monitoring experience and willingness to participate in these projects is also highly desirable.
Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities
The Field Director provides technical support, utilizing an advanced understanding of anthropological and archaeological field techniques in connection with locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating archaeological sites and supporting field surveys. Conducting field surveys (pedestrian and shovel test surveys) using topographic maps, aerial photographs, ESRI ArcCollector/ Field Maps, and other GPS data collection software will be a regular part of this role.
This position requires the ability to work long hours, in difficult or remote environments, and in varying weather conditions and the ability to work with and lead groups composed of diverse personalities. A positive attitude and ability to accept direction is a must, as well as the ability to work independently and to fully plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction.
