The position includes participating in archaeological fieldwork to include, but not limited to, survey, site recording with GPS, site monitoring, installing site protection measures, archaeological testing/excavation, geomorphology field support, GIS map production, data management, and report writing. The position includes ensuring artifacts and records are ready for curation to the standards of the Natural History Museum of Utah. This may include cataloging and rehousing of artifacts and records, artifact analysis utilizing a handheld X-Ray Fluorescence device, artifact illustration or scanning, and assisting with scanning of archived records. The position includes planning and participating in the annual and quarterly tribal meetings and assisting with consultation with the SHPO and Tribes on individual projects.

Required Job Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a M.A./M.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, Historic Preservation, Cultural Resources Management, or closely related field. OR a B.A./B.S. in Anthropology, Archaeology, Historic Preservation, Cultural Resources Management, or closely related field and three years of post-graduation experience.
Archaeological experience in the processing, curation, and analysis of archaeological collections/artifacts.
Archaeological survey and site recording experience.
Archaeological reporting. Authorship and/or participation in the generation of archaeological reports.
Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by the employment start date.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Job Qualifications
Experience in archaeological site testing or excavation
Experience in completing Utah Archaeological Site Forms
Archaeological experience in Utah and/or the Great Basin
Experience with Paleo-Indian archaeology
Experience with geomorphology, geology, or geoarchaeology
Experience in the use of Trimble GPS devices
Experience with ESRI ArcMap or ArcPro GIS software.
Experience with historic architecture or historic archaeology
Experience with database management and/or electronic records management
