Halff is seeking qualified Staff Archeologists, based out of our Austin or Houston office, to join our talented team of cultural resources professionals. The full-time permanent position entails conducting archeological field surveys, including shovel testing at times augmented with backhoe trenching, archeological site documentation and field data collection. A working knowledge of ArcGIS Collector and ArcGIS mapping software are desired qualifications.
The qualified Archeological Technician will meet the following requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology;
At least two years of demonstrable professional experience performing archeological surveys with shovel testing.
Familiarity with identifying and documenting cultural materials and features. 

The ideal candidate is familiar with conducting and documenting shovel tests in according to Texas Survey Standards, including depth, Munsell soil color, soil texture and identifying prehistoric- and historic-age cultural materials.  In addition, stooping, bending, lifting, walking in a variety of conditions and over unfamiliar terrain and overnight travel are essential functions of this position.
Halff offers highly-competitive salaries that are commensurate with experience. The salary range for the Staff Archeologist position is $18-$22 per hour.
