The Mississippi Department of Archives and History is recruiting a Cultural Resources Specialist II, Museum Educator, to serve in the Two Mississippi Museum section (2MM) of the Museum Division. The 2MM Museum Educator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing education programs and interpretive tours for museum visitors of all ages. Duties of this position include developing and implementing educational programs, including tours of the core exhibit and temporary exhibits, hands-on history events, exploration carts, guest presentations, student workshops, and offsite outreach programs. Responsibilities of this role include developing and implementing educational programs, including tours of the core exhibit and temporary exhibitions, hands-on history events, exploration carts, guest presentations, student workshops, and off-site outreach programs. This individual will research and design curriculum materials such as gallery guides and teacher resource kits to be sued by the museum on and off-site audiences. Responsibilities of this role will further include planning and organizing tours that offer commentary and information relevant to the Two Mississippi Museums to help visitors enjoy the museums' social, cultural, and historical highlights. This individual will conduct museum tours during regular operating hours and special events, welcome and provide overviews for groups, meet weekly with the group tour coordinator to prepare for scheduled tours, and create and lead thematic tours within the museums to continue to create new approaches to the stories within each museum for returning guests and students. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining the museum exhibits, including serving as a staff liaison to exhibits and collections teams, managing routine maintenance in the exhibit spaces, researching and implementing accessibility plans and policies, and reviewing and disseminating visitor reflection responses. This individual will serve as a member of the 2MM team by providing occasional back-up to the visitor services staff, completing opening and closing museum duties, serving as a museum liaison at community events, and assisting with facility use and other events at the Two Museums as assigned. Finally, this individual will manage student interns and support the Two Mississippi Museums volunteers. This individual should possess a bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience.
