AECOM is seeking an Archaeologist in our Phoenix, AZ location.  This is primarily a field position with opportunities for laboratory and desktop assignments for the right candidate.
Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Performs standard scientific work requiring application of techniques and procedures.
Detects problems when using standardized procedures because of the condition of sample, difficulties with the equipment, etc.
Conducts specific phases of projects for more experienced scientists.
Proposes appropriate analytical methods and techniques. Assists in providing advice and consulting services within scope of scientific knowledge.
Draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
Works under general supervision.

Minimum Requirements

BA in Anthropology/Archaeology or closely related field plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. 
Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with implementing archaeological fieldwork logistics, protocols, and data collection
Knowledge of field survey and excavation techniques, ability to process (wash, catalog, and label) recovered archaeological artifacts, properly fill out field and laboratory forms
Ability to perform manual work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable conditions including heat, cold, moisture, and dryness; working alone in isolated/remote areas; performing repetitive bending and stooping, standing/walking, power gripping (hand tools, levers, etc.), and fine hand movements; lifting 25 to 75 pounds; wearing personal protective equipment, including safety glasses/goggles, gloves, safety shoes/boots, hard hat, long-sleeve shirts, and snake guards; working with arms above shoulder level; climbing ladders or stairs and working at heights or in confined spaces; working safely around heavy, moving, dangerous equipment; operating of vehicles; and performing keyboard/mouse operations
Knowledge and understanding of equipment and technology used to collect and record archaeological data, including GPS applications and Microsoft applications
Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions
Ability to write well, including artifact, feature, site, and landscape descriptions
Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with other project staff
Flexibility to travel overnight and out of state for up to a month or more at a time
Undergraduate degree in anthropology, history, museum studies, or related field and have attended an archaeological field school.
2+ years of experience in archaeological survey and excavation fieldwork and analysis in the Southwest
General familiarity with cultural resource management protocols and processes, including compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act and National Environmental Policy Act
Some experience with conducting laboratory analysis of both prehistoric and historic material
CPR/First Aid Training
