AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra), an award-winning, woman-owned, small business is seeking an experienced Principal Investigator for their Norman, Oklahoma office. The successful applicant will work alongside AmaTerra’s staff serving a variety of federal, state, municipal, and private clients. Applicants must have a graduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field and four or more years of professional archaeological experience assisting, leading, and/or managing archaeological surveys, National Register testing and evaluation projects, and data recovery excavations. Supervisory experience managing archeological projects and crews is required.
The most successful candidate will demonstrate:

Ability to plan and manage multiple archaeological projects simultaneously, including coordinating with clients, budgeting, invoicing, staffing, and overseeing field investigations, data and laboratory analysis, and report writing.
Excellent written communication skills, and the ability to work well with others.
Knowledge and understanding of Federal and State laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to cultural resources, particularly Section 106.
Experience with USACE – Tulsa District cultural resource projects (preferred).
Experience with ARPA permitting (preferred).
Experience with Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) cultural resources project procedures and reporting standards. (If applicant has ODOT project and reporting experience, a writing sample will be requested.)
Project experience in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and/or Texas preferred. (If applicant has Texas PI experience under the Antiquities Code of Texas, proof of completing Texas Antiquities Permit will be required.)
Experience with GPS and other digital data collection methods.
Specific research areas and/or skills such as, but not limited to, geophysical survey methods, faunal analysis, lithic technology, ceramic analysis, historic archaeology, osteology, GIS, or geomorphology.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.

Successful candidates must also be able to:

overnight travel required (at least 25 percent).
dig shovel tests to depths of up to one meter.
ability to lift 50 pounds.
work outdoors in potentially adverse weather conditions.

Job responsibilities will include planning and managing a variety of archaeological projects (including budgets), coordinating and/or leading field crews on various survey, testing and data recovery projects, coordination and oversight of data and laboratory analyses, report writing and editing, coordination and consultation with clients, agency officials and regulators, and working with all staff in AmaTerra Offices.

The estimated annual salary range for this position is between $60,000–70,000 and commensurate with experience.
