The Department of Cultural & Community Engagement's Utah State Historic Preservation Office is seeking to hire a full-time Assistant Cultural Site Stewardship Coordinator with benefits. This position will work with the Utah Cultural Site Stewardship (UCSS) program. UCSS is a statewide, volunteer-based organization that assists federal and state land managing agencies, as well as private landowners, in monitoring the conditions of known archaeological sites. This position has the ability to operate on- or off the Wasatch Front through telework agreements. This position also will require travel away from home base to communities and events throughout the state.
Principal Duties
As the Assistant Cultural Site Stewardship Coordinator you will typically:

Bring new Stewards to archaeological sites around the state and familiarize them with their assigned sites and potential impacts.
Work with and support Regional UCSS Coordinators.
Create and execute training programs related to site stewardship and archaeology for local communities and affiliated partners.
Ensure that volunteer data and monitoring reports are accurate and that they are appropriately ingested into our data collections.
Assist in the creation of reports on UCSS data, progress and other metrics.
Help to develop public communication through marketing collateral, newsletters, videos and educational materials.
Assist in conducting non-compliance related archaeological survey and documentation efforts for partnered agencies, local governments and private landowners.
Coordinate activities and resources with the Utah Division of State History, Utah History Day, Arts and Museums and other partners within the Utah Department of Community and Cultural Engagement.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal person for this position will possess:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work well with a broad range of local partners with varied social and cultural backgrounds.
A familiarity with North American archaeology, public archaeology and history.

Preferences
Preference may be given to those with a graduate degree in Archaeology or closely related field of study, plus a minimum of two years of relevant full-time professional experience.
