Job Description
PaleoWest is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians for upcoming projects in the San Francisco Bay Area. The role will assist the Field Director and Project Team in completing archaeological pedestrian surveys, testing and data recovery excavations, construction monitoring, and other field or office tasks. The ideal candidate should be available to work full-time on an as-needed basis. This position will also offer support for job training, a positive and diverse work environmental, and colleagues who are supportive, passionate, and collectively focused on work/life balance and producing high quality CRM documents.
Skills and Responsibilities

Previous California and Bay Area experience is a plus
Demonstrate excellent attention to detail, a positive work ethic, reliability, and commitment to working both independently and in a team environment
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exhibit positive and respectful behavior toward Native American representatives
Exemplify professionalism
Observe and uphold PaleoWest’s Fieldwork Procedures and Health and Safety requirements
Be able to endure adverse environmental conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, precipitation, and challenging terrain for sustained durations
Work with PaleoWest Bay Area Team Lead, Principal Investigators, Project Managers, and other staff to implement project specific instructions and methods
Willingness to travel and stay overnight on short and long term projects

Qualifications

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field
Certification from an accredited Archaeological Field School and/or demonstrated equivalent CRM field experience, including survey, monitoring, and excavation of Pre-Contact and/or historic period resources.
Valid driver’s license

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or willingness to get vaccinated prior to date of hire is required for all employees, unless a valid religious or medical waiver is in place.
