Senior Historical Archaeologist/Far Western Full Time

We are looking to immediately hire an Historical Archaeologist to work on existing projects throughout Northern California and based out of the Sausalito office in Marin County. An interested applicant would look forward to working directly with Far Western Principal Investigators and Project Managers on a variety of projects through the environmental and historic preservation compliance processes.

Required Qualifications: 

• M.S. or M.A.-level education and meets the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) Professional Qualification Standards (PQS) in Archaeology.
• At least two years of supervisory experience as a Crew Chief or Field Director.
• Historical archaeology field experience (e.g., survey, site documentation/data collection, excavation, evaluation, and familiarity with data collecting devices and hand-held tools). 
• Expertise to conduct historic-era artifact analysis and archival research and ability to provide training to interested staff.
• Demonstrable skills to prepare research designs, project-specific historic contexts, and archaeological site evaluations.
• Leadership with pre-field and post-field tasks, logistics, and results processing inclusive of reporting.
• Have experience working collaboratively with Native American monitors,  tribal cultural resource specialists, and descendant communities in the field and laboratory.
• Have knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations in CRM.
• Have strong technical report writing skills and the ability to author compliance and research reports and special study sections relevant to historical archaeology.
