We are seeking full-time Archaeological Technicians to aid in multiple Cultural Resource projects. The Archaeological Technician can be based out of their home location but expected to travel for fieldwork. When not in the field, the applicant will work remotely from home. A successful ESI Field Technician will need to be able to accomplish the following tasks.  

• Locates and records cultural features using standard archaeological survey and excavation techniques and tools. 
• Identifies artifacts and potential artifacts, cultural features, and significant natural conditions. 
• Recognizes conditions that may require reevaluation of strategy or additional investigation. 
• Maps and draws archaeological units, features and architectural features.
• Takes photos of excavation units, structures, and survey areas. 
• Maintains an accurate record of excavation and survey field work. 
• Performs required physical work in adverse environmental conditions. 
• Performs a range of tasks that require adhering to a consistent standard. 
• Consults with co-workers and/or the field supervisor for clarification. 
• Maintains workable relations with other members of the crew.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

• BA in anthropology, archaeology, or related field. 
• Completed an archaeological field school as part of their education. 
• Able to travel and work in the field for periods up to 7-10 days at a time. 
• Comfortable working in remote locations on projects that require walking and carrying 30+ lbs. of gear for extended periods of time. 

Requirements: 

• 1-3 years of relevant field experience. 
• Must be able to pass all pre-hire screenings. 
• Must possess a valid driver’s license. 

Compensation: 

• The starting salary will be $45,000. 
• This position is eligible for ESI’s standard benefits package.
