The Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) seeks to engage our audiences in the appreciation of art, history, and culture of the Inland Northwest and beyond, through collection stewardship, exhibitions and programs that enrich and inspire. Established in 1916, the MAC is the oldest cultural organization in Spokane, Washington, and serves over 100,000 visitors each year from around the region. The museum collections contain over 63,000 objects, including the largest known collection of Plateau tribal art and artifacts.  The Institutional Mission is to collect, preserve and present cultural history and art in an educational and entertaining way for visitors.
What you will be doing:
You’ll work under the direction of the Museum Collections Curator in support of collections management activities. You will also work with the Registrar and Exhibition Preparators as part of a team effort to install/de-install exhibitions in a timely and safe manner. You will also work with the History Curator to maintain the Campbell House to historic house museum standards and may instruct and work with volunteers to accomplish objectives as needed.

Duties
Some of what you’ll enjoy doing includes:

Cleans and manages dust control throughout the Campbell House, in both public and installed exhibition areas according to museum standards to include sensitive areas  
Cleans and manages dust control in the museum’s exhibition galleries
Acts as a gallery lighting technician for exhibition installation
Provides gallery preparation services, such as printing and mounting of exhibition graphics, vinyl cutting, weeding, and installing, painting galleries and gallery furniture 
Identifies, prepares, and assists with moving exhibition furniture and components
Supports electronic record maintenance projects, providing data entry and data clean-up as directed

Qualifications
REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in history, anthropology, archaeology, museum studies, fine arts, education or closely related field

AND 

Two years of experience in a museum environment or equivalent
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

(Qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis)
AND

Cleaning and maintenance of sensitive areas
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Demonstrated knowledge of object/artifact handling and care standards
Demonstrated capacity for organization and managing details
Demonstrated communication skills
Demonstrated experience working as part of a team to accomplish shared goals 
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.

PREFERRED:

Experience with a collection management database
Experience in use of ladders, power tools, pallet jack and scissor lift
2 years of professional cleaning experience 
Exhibition lighting experience
Demonstrated knowledge and experience maintaining a historic house
