State: PA & WV; Wages: $20.00/Hr
Michael Baker International is seeking to hire Archaeological Field Technicians (Cultural Resource Associates) based out of the Moon Township Office in Pittsburgh, PA for upcoming Phase I archaeological field investigations in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Work will begin in early December 2022 and potentially continue through March 2023. Projects in WV are per diem based, and the hotel will be pre-paid.  Projects in PA are receipt based and the hotel will be prepaid. The hourly rate will be $20.00. Local candidates within 5 hours' drive of Davis, WV and/or Brookeville, PA are preferred! This is a temporary position.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Conducting archaeological field investigations
Traveling to project locations in multiple states
Conducting reconnaissance surveys and shovel testing
Identifying and delineating archaeological sites
Performing deep soil excavations in conjunction with geomorphological evaluations
Assisting in the collection of field data
Identifying prehistoric and historic artifacts
Conducting detailed excavations of archaeological features

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Possess a degree (B.A. minimally or demonstration of curriculum leading to degree) in Anthropology (Archaeology), Cultural Resource Management, History, Geology, Soil Science, or related field
Demonstration of experience in performing the tasks detailed above is preferred
The successful candidate must be a licensed driver
Demonstrated experience in Phase I surveys and Phase II excavations a plus
Preference will also be given to individuals with health and safety certifications, as well as knowledge of soils, and GPS
Compass and orienteering skills preferred

COMPENSATION
The compensation for this position is $20.00/hour.
