ASSOCIATE STATE ARCHEOLOGIST – NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / FORT HUMBOLDT STATE HISTORIC PARK
The reporting location for this position is the North Coast Redwoods District office located at 3431 Fort Avenue, Eureka, CA 95503 at Fort Humboldt State Historic Park. This position will work under the general direction of the Cultural Resources Program Supervisor.
The position will serve as the District Archaeologist, and is responsible for the management of the District's archaeological resources. The District Archaeologist works as part of an interdisciplinary team and provides written recommendations when potential impacts to may occur as a result of Departmental actions in areas with archaeological resources as directed by the California Environmental Quality ACT (CEQA), Public Resources Code 5024 et seq., and (when appropriate) Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and working with partners in the Native American community is preferred.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
